Introducing Silk SMILE LASIK: The Next Generation of Vision Correction

Hello, this is Bright St. Mary Eye Clinic.
We're excited to announce the introduction of a new surgery at our clinic:
Silk SMILE LASIK.
Before diving into Silk SMILE LASIK, let's briefly and easily explain
"SMILE LASIK."
What is SMILE LASIK?
Small Incision Lenticule Extraction
SMILE LASIK is known for being a surgery with less pain and a faster recovery.
By reducing the incision range compared to traditional LASIK,
it allows for a quicker return to daily life and
considers the quality of vision, providing high satisfaction for modern individuals.
Despite these advantages,
there were concerns that made people hesitate about SMILE surgery:
the potential risks of dry eye, glare, and myopic regression.
At a time when fast and less painful surgery has become the standard,
lifelong vision satisfaction is what truly matters.
That's why we introduced
the next-generation SMILE surgery, Silk SMILE LASIK, which creates the most ideal state for your eyes!
Johnson & Johnson x elita
Johnson & Johnson is the company that developed familiar products like baby oil and baby lotion.
In particular, they were the first to develop and release the widely used adhesive bandage.
The laser surgical equipment used to perform Silk SMILE LASIK
is developed by Johnson & Johnson.
So, shall we learn about Silk SMILE LASIK using elita?
Point 1.
Bi-convex design for
smooth lenticule without wrinkles
The lenticule's design and the uniformity of corneal recovery
create a qualitative difference in vision, not just a simple visual acuity number.
In conventional SMILE surgery,
the top and bottom surfaces of the lenticule
were designed with different curvatures and lengths.
As a result, after removing the lenticule,
the cut surfaces may not align perfectly,
and fine wrinkles may occur between the corneal stromal layers
during the recovery process.
Elita creates a smooth lenticule junction surface without wrinkles,
with a perfectly symmetrical biconvex design.
The top and bottom lengths of the lenticule are the same,
so both refractive surfaces are designed to be perfectly symmetrical.
As a result, corneal wrinkles do not occur
during the recovery process,
the corneal surface remains smooth,
minimizing astigmatism and higher-order aberrations,
and providing a clearer and more stable field of vision.
Point 2.
A further developed femtosecond laser
The Elita laser uses the world's lowest energy laser of 40nJ,
reducing thermal damage to the corneal tissue
compared to conventional SMILE surgery.
As a result, the surgery is smoother and
more precise, reducing the risk of side effects and complications,
and speeding up recovery,
allowing you to return to daily life the day after surgery.
Also, in vision correction surgery,
the spacing between laser spots
has a significant impact on the quality of vision.
If the distance between spots is too far,
the lenticule will not be properly cut,
and it must be physically torn off,
which can degrade the quality of vision after surgery.
Conversely, if the spots are excessively overlapped,
the generated bubbles interfere with the next spot,
making it difficult to form an accurate lenticule.
Therefore, Elita
is equipped with the smallest beam size laser
among existing vision correction laser devices,
and the laser spots are closely spaced.
Point 3.
Dry Eye Prevention by Preserving Corneal Nerves
Numerous corneal nerves that control tear secretion
exist in the upper part of the cornea.
If these nerves are cut or damaged during surgery,
which can cause dry eye.
Therefore, general surgery
cuts the corneal epithelial nerves,
which can cause dry eye,
Elita minimizes nerve damage by
forming a lenticule in the deep layers of the corneal stroma
and helps maintain stable vision.
By forming the lenticule in the deep layers of the cornea,
the risk of myopic regression was also reduced.
Structurally, the more the central part protrudes outward,
the higher the density and the harder the cornea is.
Silk SMILE LASIK
preserves this upper structure as much as possible,
reduces tissue damage, increases the stability of the surgery,
and protects the eyes more safely from external impact.
Point 4.
Docking system with precise axis correction
Silk SMILE LASIK using Elita
can precisely correct the central axis and astigmatism axis
with the docking post-correction system,
enabling accurate laser irradiation.
In addition, it adheres perfectly without empty space
and uses a flat docking system that considers the corneal curvature of each individual.
Designed with a flat structure rather than a curved shape,
it completely adheres to the eye without empty space,
preventing suction loss during surgery.
Based on this high stability,
satisfaction is high from a long-term perspective!
You can choose with confidence!
It is the 7th generation Silk SMILE LASIK, a vision correction surgery.
Our Bright St. Mary Eye Clinic medical staff
always puts the patient's eye health first.
From the cornea to the optic nerve of the retina,
we check for abnormalities in all parts of the eye
and what the individual's values are.
We require over 60 types of 1:1 precision tests.
Various precision tests are performed, such as
patient's vision, corneal condition,
retinal thickness, and pupil size.
Through this, we provide consultations on
whether surgery is possible, corrected vision after surgery,
and the most suitable surgical method for your eye condition.
We perform various precision tests and
are equipped with the latest surgical equipment,
Our ophthalmologists also
have a wealth of clinical experience,
so you can expect stable results.
We operate on a reservation system,
so please make a reservation before visiting
and feel free to contact us with any questions. :)
