"As my parents got older, their vision deteriorated to the point where they could barely see...

But they didn't want to worry their children, so they never mentioned the word 'cataracts'."

Among those who visit our clinic for cataract treatment, about half are accompanied by their parents.

Generally, elderly individuals experience a greater decline in cognitive function than one might expect.

So, even when their vision becomes slightly blurred at first, they often don't show it.

If cataracts progress rapidly, they immediately realize, "My vision has become very blurry."

However, if cataracts develop slowly, they often live with it without realizing, wondering, "When did this start?"

As their vision gradually worsens, their cognitive abilities decline.

The speed at which they process thoughts slows down.

And it becomes difficult for them to speak as clearly and fluently as before.

In such cases, it's best to consider surgery.

I recently discussed cataracts and eye health management on YTN FM radio.

Cataract surgery clinic?

An ophthalmologist with 20,000 surgeries performed.

Hello. I'm Kim Sun-young, the head director of Gangnam Healing Eye Clinic, and an ophthalmology specialist with 18 years of experience.

I graduated from the Catholic Medical University, which is considered one of the top institutions in the field of ophthalmology.

I served as a clinical professor in the cataract department at Catholic St. Mary's Hospital.

To date, I have personally performed over 20,000 cataract surgeries.

With this number of surgeries, I am among the top surgeons in the country.

(It's a bit embarrassing to say this...^^)

I even performed surgery on my own mother, and she packed me a heartfelt lunch... haha.

Among those reading this, there may be quite a few who are looking for a cataract surgery clinic for themselves or their parents.

You might be wondering:

"Should I seek out a highly skilled doctor?"

"Or would it be more reasonable to go to a clinic with affordable lens prices?"

I want to share something with those who are contemplating these questions.

I recently appeared on KBS's <Worth Trying Morning> after receiving a filming request. ^^

Cataract surgery clinic?

You should always be wary of excessively cheap places.

There was a patient who visited our clinic.

Despite having surgery at A Eye Clinic in Gangnam,

their vision did not fully recover, and they experienced severe light scattering,

eventually suffering from depression.

They went back to Hospital A, where they originally had the surgery,

and asked for a revision surgery.

However, the hospital said, "Revision surgery is difficult,"

and told them to go to a university hospital or another clinic.

Usually, excessively cheap clinics are likely to be factory-style clinics that focus on high volume and low prices.

This inevitably leads to lower salaries for the doctors.

Therefore, experienced doctors with over 10 years of experience, like myself,

don't bother working at such clinics.

As a result, newly hired doctors with only about 4-5 years of experience tend to gather in these clinics,

increasing the likelihood of mistakes during surgery.

This patient also inquired about revision surgery costs from two other places.

One place quoted 3 million won, and the other quoted 6 million won.

Desperate, they searched on YouTube

and found our clinic.

This photo is the 'medical record' issued by that Hospital A.

I examined it myself.

It stated, 'Right eye structure is weak and entered the sulcus.'

This means that the vitreous body, which should be behind the lens,

pushed forward, pushing the lens and getting caught in the suture area,

preventing the lens from being properly positioned.

This situation was entirely due to the doctor's lack of experience and skill.

When I checked it myself, it was an easily solvable issue.

I pushed the vitreous body, which was distorting the pupil, back in,

moved the lens back, and readjusted the center using a capsular capture technique utilizing the capsular bag.

I returned the lens to its original position in just 10 minutes,

and the cost was only about 80,000 won.

If you look closely at the post-surgery condition,

you can see that the misaligned lens has returned to its original position,

and the iris is round and beautiful.

The next day, they came to the clinic for a check-up,

and told us that their vision had improved

and the light scattering had significantly reduced.

As eye surgery is a once-in-a-lifetime procedure,

if a cataract surgery clinic only emphasizes low costs...

it's a good idea to be skeptical.

The term we commonly use for surgery costs, 'suga,'

the 'su (手)' means 'hand.'

Ultimately, it refers to the 'doctor's hand.'

If the value of that hand is excessively low...

could there be a reason?

Cataract surgery clinic?

Go to a place with thorough aftercare.

If you check the medical record above,

you'll see that there is almost no aftercare provided.

Being inexperienced doctors, they naturally have no experience with revision surgeries.

Even simple issues,

such as moving the lens back to its original position, dry eye syndrome, lens replacement, floaters, refractive errors, etc.,

are either referred to other clinics

or charged millions of won.

It's similar to driving a car without insurance.

It's like not even bothering to get insurance to save a penny,

even though you don't know when an accident might happen.

That's why I offer a lifetime warranty to all patients who have surgery at our clinic.

We provide free care for all unexpected side effects that may occur after surgery.

(Lens replacement is also provided free of charge.)

That's not to say you should only come to our clinic.

I would be satisfied if you could choose a cataract surgery clinic wisely

and regain clear and healthy vision. ^^
